- OWH Bio: The 22-year-old La Vernia, Texas, native recently completed his eligibility at Nebraska, where he was an eight-time All-American and the NCAA indoor high jump champ as a senior. His jump of 7 feet, 8 3/4 inches during the outdoor season stood as the world best for a time, but he settled for a tie for second at the NCAA outdoor meet in June. Never won a state championship in high school. Earned his trip to Beijing after a dramatic jump-off with Kansas State's Scott Sellers at the Olympic Trials.

- OWH Bio: The former Husker, a Canadian, will compete in the 100-meter hurdles after she qualified for Beijing by winning her country's trials this summer. A 2004 indoor NCAA champion in the 60-meter hurdles at Nebraska and three-time NCAA runner-up, Lopes-Schliep, 25, finished 20th in the preliminaries at the 2004 Games in Athens.

- In Beijing Alshammar will swim as a part of the relay team, but has decided to focus on the 50 metre freestyle in hopes of increasing her chances for a medal.
- Therese Alshammar has been a longtime staple on the international scene and among the world's premier sprinters.

- OWH Bio: The Millard South graduate and former Husker was a late add to the U.S. baseball team. He is 29-30 in four minor-league seasons in the Minnesota Twins organization. He has pitched in 23 games this year for Class AAA Rochester, posting a 5-11 mark with a 4.23 ERA. A third-round pick in the 2005 draft, the 25-year-old left-hander won 18 games in his Nebraska career.
