- [Lavonte David] Senior Bowl: Due to restrictive game rules LB Lavonte David was not allowed to show the opposing QB's his blitzing skills but managed 4 tackles (3 solo) in the Senior Bowl. David also played well on special teams which will be a benefit for any incoming NFL rookie.

- [Alfonzo Dennard] Senior Bowl : Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska: I was impressed with Dennard because he was the most physical CB on the field this week. Might be targeted as a Cover 2 corner in the draft, but he did show some ability in one-on-ones to play the ball. Plus, he had WRs looking to hide during "stalk block" drills. Dennard can hit.

- National Football Post North Practice Notes Day 3:
Nebraska LB Lavonte David is a bit undersized. However, he’s a “plus” athlete who can turn and run down the field. He’s loose in the hips, diagnoses plays quickly and always puts himself around the football. In the run game he’s routinely getting early jumps on the actions and knows how to scrape the edge and break down into contact.
Wednesday was the best day of practice in my view for Nebraska CB Alfonzo Dennard. He was physical in press coverage, did a nice job staying in receivers back pockets down the field and competes when asked to go make a play on the football. He still lets opposing wide outs get behind him. However, as a potential cover two guy he should be able to find a home.
- [Alfonzo Dennard] @nfldraftupdate reported on Twitter that Dennard had been showing improvements prior to his injury: "Dennard kicked it up a notch today. Exhibiting all necessary coverage skills for a Cover 2 CB, his technique is sound."

- [Carl Nicks] Adam Schefter's 10 Spot- ESPN: The Saints' failure to sign quarterback Drew Brees to a contract extension this season probably will wind up hurting them this offseason. Unless New Orleans can get a deal done with Brees in the next month, the Saints will have to use their franchise tag on him, which means they will not have it available for wide receiver Marques Colston or Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks. Colston already has said he will not give New Orleans a hometown discount, and Nicks also is expected to leave New Orleans, according to league sources. The Saints already have committed big money to guard Jahri Evans. It would be challenging for New Orleans to make two guards two of the highest-paid players at their position in the league, and so the lack of a tag probably means goodbye to Nicks. Failing to get a deal done with Brees might not have seemed like a significant issue at the time, but it will cost New Orleans.

- [Mike Caputo] NFLPA All-Star practice: C Mike Caputo, Nebraska: The short, squatty Caputo likely lacks the size to be able to handle the mammoth interior defenders of the NFL. That didn't stop the former Cornhusker from turning heads Wednesday with his rugged play. Caputo has quick hands to grasp his opponent after snapping the ball and a powerful base that defenders couldn't bull rush through. His lack of height was typically beneficial Wednesday as he won the leverage battle and was able to push defenders off the ball. On one occasion, however, an equally short opponent -- Humboldt State's Andrew Iupati -- beat Caputo with an effective swim move. This play was the exception to the rule for Caputo, whose gritty play will endear him to offensive-line coaches.
