    *Close race for 1st pick
    *Big impressions
    *LB/DL Hit the Bench
    *Suh vs McCoy
    *From Jason Feller's NFL.com Blog:
A stroll around the different workout stations at the NFL Scouting Combine provides a unique perspective of how these prospects prepare for competition.
Ndamukong Suh was especially interesting to watch. The Nebraska defensive tackle, whom Bucky Brooks projects to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, displayed pure intensity.
While preparing to run his 40-yard dash Monday, Suh carved out some space for himself on the far side of the field to visualize his run and practice his form. His steely focus was evident on his face as he appeared to be in the zone.
Suh, who already had posted an unofficial 35 1/2-inch vertical jump — an incredible feat for a defensive tackle — wanted to knock out an equally impressive 40 time.
After recording a solid 4.98 seconds in his first run, Suh was hoping to tally an even better mark in his second. Without even hearing his unofficial time, it was clear that didn’t happen. As soon as he crossed the finish line, Suh shook his head in disgust, muttered at himself and walked back to the next drill in disappointment. His unofficial second time: 5.07 seconds. ...
  • The highest-rated prospects represented well Sunday. Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh put up 32 reps, doing nothing to hurt his stock and besting Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy (26). Other notables included Ohio State DE Thaddeus Gibson (32), Michigan DE/OLB Brandon Graham (31) and USC DE Everson Griffen (32).
Overall, 50 of the 66 linemen lifted, and 13 players did 30 reps or more.
  • From KFFL: Ndamukong Suh was asked during the NFL Scouting Combine if he could play at a heavier weight in the NFL. Suh said, "I definitely think I can if that's what they want me to do. But would I prefer? I don't know. I've been as big as 330. I've been as small as 290 pounds coming in as a freshman and playing at 295 this season. So I have been in both areas. Which one do I prefer? I like to be between 295 and 300. But if my team wants me to be heavier or where I'm at right now, I'm 307, I think I can play at a heavier weight but put on good weight to be that heavy."

  • [Larry Asante] Asante was asked during the NFL Scouting Combine if he would rather make a big hit or intercept a pass. Asante said, 'Going after the ball is more important and I think that's something I need to work on, there are times I always go for the big hit, being too aggressive. Getting a pick is a lot more important, putting the offense back on the field to have a chance to score.'" (KFFL)
