- [Baltimore Ravens] Washington answers the call
- [Baltimore Ravens] Cornerback Fabian Washington made his debut as a Raven last night. Sidelined through much of the preseason because of injuries involving a bulging disc in his neck and a balky hamstring, Washington started in place of Samari Rolle (right shoulder) opposite Chris McAlister. Washington recorded three tackles and was beaten twice, including by Santonio Holmes on his 38-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the third quarter. Ryan had seemed pessimistic about Washington's availability earlier in the week, but Washington was listed as probable in the team's final injury report. (Baltimore Sun)

- [CFL] Barron Miles of the BC Lions was a defensive player of the game vs the Roughriders. Miles, 36, thwarted a Saskatchewan scoring drive when he picked off a Michael Bishop pass in the first quarter and the safety made his league-leading seventh interception at the expense of Darian Durant in the fourth. Miles created his third turnover of the evening by stuffing Jamie Boreham on a punt. Because Boreham's foot didn't contact the ball, however, Miles wasn't credited with a block, which would have been the 13th of his career -- a CFL record. Instead, it was scored as a tackle for loss.
