- [Philadelphia Eagles] From Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe:
"Remember the name Stewart Bradley. When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Bradley in the third round of last weekend's draft, the news was met with a groan in the Patriots' draft room. The Nebraska linebacker was a player the Patriots would have been pleased to draft with the 91st overall selection, but the Eagles snared him 87th. As it turns out, it was a bit of payback for the Eagles, who were hoping to see Miami safety Brandon Meriweather available 26th overall in the first round before the Patriots took him two spots earlier. With Bradley off the board, the Patriots ended up trading their third-round pick to the Raiders."
- [Green Bay Packers] NFL.com Fantasy Expert Michael Fabiano ranked Packers RB Brandon Jackson as his number 5 fantasy rookie:
"A favorite of NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt, Jackson is a bit raw but possesses the speed to break long runs and decent skills as a receiver out of the backfield. While injuries are a concern (he has had two shoulder surgeries in two years), Jackson will compete with Vernand Morency for carries and could see a large portion of the workload."

- [MLB] White Sox center fielder Darin Erstad, making his first Angel Stadium appearance since his 11-year Angels career ended last winter, received a standing ovation before leading off Friday night's game.
Erstad, who took off his helmet and waved to the crowd, was also saluted during a brief video tribute in the middle of the first inning, with a collection of highlights punctuated by the message, "Thanks for the memories."
Erstad played against the Angels twice in spring training and three times in Chicago last weekend, "but this is going to be the hardest one," he said of his return to Anaheim. "Being [an opponent] in this stadium is going to be odd." (Courant.com)

- [San Francisco 49ers] 49ers personnel chief Scot McCloughan said Wednesday all four of the team's first-day draft picks, as well as fourth-rounder Jay Moore, could start next season, or at least have significant roles.
McCloughan said he thought Moore was light on his feet last season as a 273-pound defensive end, and the team will allow him to play outside linebacker at that weight. He will compete with Tully Banta-Cain and Parys Haralson at strong-side linebacker, where the team wants stout players who can stuff the run. (SacBee.com)
