- [Seattle Seahawks] Seahawks kicker Josh Brown was named the NFC's special teams player of the week after kicking four field goals in the Monday night win over Green Bay. It was the second such honor this season for Brown, who is the only Seattle player to be named player-of-the-week. (HeraldNet.com)
- [New Orleans Saints] Saints starting tight end Ernie Conwell was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season. The Saints moved quickly to fill Conwell's roster spot with defensive end Trevor Johnson, a 2004, seventh-round pick of the New York Jets who was released late September of this season. Johnson, who played in 25 games in two seasons with the Jets, was acquired the same day Saints starting defensive end Will Smith missed practice with a knee bruise.
Smith, however, said he believed he would play Sunday and wanted to practice Wednesday but was ordered to rest by the coaching staff. (AP)

- [Seattle Seahawks] Seahawks kicker Josh Brown will be named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 12. That will be officially announced tomorrow.
Brown made all four of his field goal tries in the Seahawks 34-24 win over the Green Bay Packers last night. He did so in snow and cold temperatures the likes of which have never been seen at a Seahawks home game before.
Brown is 18-for-22 on field goals this season and has made 8 of 10 tries from 40 or more yards, including two on Monday. This is Brown's second time as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week this season [Week 6] and third time in his four-year career. (Seattle Times)

- [Oakland Raiders] Long-snapper Adam Treu sustained a quadriceps injury in Sunday's game, and his status is in doubt for Sunday's game against the Texans, if not longer.
Shell said it appears as if Treu got hurt while covering a punt in the first half, though he could have injured himself on an earlier play and aggravated the injury in the subsequent play.
Regular center Jake Grove handled long-snapping duties in Treu's absence. Shell said Grove is expected to shoulder both duties until further notice. Left guard Corey Hulsey also has experience at center.
Treu is the longest-tenured Raider. He has appeared in all 155 regular-season games and seven postseason games during his 10-year career.
Treu was unavailable for comment after Sunday's game, as well as Monday during media access. (The Argus)

- Carolina's defense was stung by Dallas' 25-point fourth quarter three weeks ago, but has played very well in two straight games following a bye week. Now, these gatherings can be overrated, but there's a feeling in Charlotte that the team turned things around when safety Mike Minter suggested that players gather for dinner each Thursday night to bond and improve team chemistry. Defensive end Mike Rucker, who made two sacks against St. Louis, said he tends to play harder for his teammates when he knows them personally. Hey, whatever works... (Mercury News)

- Dan Miller, the radio voice of the Lions, on Raiola's comments-- "If this team can show some toughness, whatever it takes, and start to prove that nobody is going to come into their house and not push them around -- whatever it takes is fine by me. If it takes Dom standing up and saying something like that, great. I don't have a problem with that... Anything that goes into the category of toughness and a little bravado, I'm all for it because this team hasn't had enough of that and they need some of it." (MLive.com)
- Detroit Free Press gives out the Lions' midtern grades-- For the offensive line, "Left tackle Jeff Backus and center Dominic Raiola have been the bedrock, playing every game and performing solidly. The rest of the line has been in constant flux -- the Lions have used six combinations in eight games because of injuries -- and it has showed at times".
In the secondary, "Terrence Holt has held off rookie Daniel Bullocks, but Bullocks is still challenging for playing time.".

- [Tampa Bay Buccaneers] Bucs starting LB Shelton Quarles left in the third quarter with a high ankle sprain and is questionable for Monday night's game against the Panthers. "It's one of those things where I always expect him to play," Ruud said. "It's easier for me if I know he's not going to play to prepare and treat it like I'm starting." (TBO.com)
