- [Senior Bowl] From a practice wrap-up from GBNReport.com-- "...Daniel Bullocks of Nebraska covered a lot of ground and always seemed to be around the ball when it mattered."
- In recent weeks Bullocks has been pegged by some draft-niks to go as low as the 5th round, but NFLDraftCountdown.com noted that in Senior Bowl practices, "(Bullocks) continued to shine and he could ultimately go as high as his brother did a year ago." Brother Josh Bullocks of course was drafted in the 2nd round last year.
During ESPN's broadcast of the practices, Mel Kiper noted that he felt Daniel was a 2nd round prospect.

Daniel Bullocks will participate in the Senior Bowl on January 28th.
- The Panthers...talked quite a bit to short, stocky Nebraske RB Cory Ross (at practice for the East-West Shine Game). Ross might be as short as 5’6”, but he was low and powerful, kept his legs moving, and caught a few nice passes. (footballblogs.org)
- More from practices: "Nebraska's Cory Ross continued to look like the kind of guy who could stick. He seemed like a more powerful Quentin Griffin, and really impressed me with his receiving skills. He's a very determined runner and he knows how to use his low center of gravity to go through the hole like a pinball." (Sigmund Bloom, footballblogs.org)
- GBNDraft.com: It's still questionable if Nebraska OH Cory Ross is a guy who's going to be draftable, but one thing is not in question - his effort. He really hits the hole well and shows a pretty good burst. He doesn't have magic feet or really any superlative qualities, plus he's very, very short, but he might be strong enough and have enough fire to worth a gamble pick in the seventh round as a kind of Darren Sproles-like player.

Edwards was a Chiefs assistant when the team picked Shields in the third round in 1993.
"He's preparing to go play in the Pro Bowl," Edwards said. "I anticipate that he'll be back. I anticipate these guys will be back, but that's just my opinion." (KRT Wire)

- A history lesson in reference to Doug Flutie's drop kick in Week 17, the first drop kick in the NFL since 1941:
Why did the drop kick fall out of favor? Well, for starters, it didn't get as much distance as the place kick. In 1934, the Lions needed to make a 54-yard field goal to beat the Packers, but it was beyond the range of their famed drop kicker, Dutch Clark. So the team turned to (Husker legend) Glenn Presnell, who could place kick. Not only did Presnell win the game, his 54-yarder set an NFL record that stood for 19 years. (Washington Times)

His ''It's like we suck'' admonition helped get the team back on track. When he missed the final four games of the regular season, the difference was noticeable."
