- [Coaches] Jimmy Williams promoted to Buffalo defensive coord.
- [NFL Combine] Mike Maycock, NFL Network analyst-- "At the safety position, I have (Dante) Whitner as number one, but I have that next group of guys clumped together in the second round along with (Anthony) Smith from Syracuse and (Daniel) Bullocks." (Chargers.com)
Maycock also singled out Bullocks as having an impressive combine workout. Specifically pointed out was Bullocks time 4.38 (official) in the forty-yd dash which ranked 6th among (Group 11) DBs; the time, Maycock said, was impressive considering Bullocks size and safety position.
Bullocks also finished in the top 6 in two other categories
- Contrary to NFL Network, Packers.com reports Bullocks 40-yard dash time as 4.40.

Daniel Bullocks, SS, Nebraska: 6-0, 205. Three-year starter with eight interceptions. "Not a bad player," one scout said. "His brother was better." Last year, New Orleans drafted Nebraska's Josh Bullocks in the second round (No. 40 pick) and started him at free safety in the last 13 games.

- [Olympics] Shopping in Sestriere with comic actor Tom Green? USA-1 bobsled driver Todd Hays thought that was asking for trouble.
"I was a little scared of Tom, to tell you the truth," Hays said. "He's too unpredictable for me. I don't want to find myself in an Italian prison somewhere, wondering what the hell was I thinking hanging out with Tom Green."
That left bobsled teammates Brock Kreitzburg, Curt Tomasevicz and 2002 Olympic silver medalist Bill Schuffenhauer to accompany Green for a segment scheduled to air Monday night on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
The idea was to see how much free stuff Green could load onto the American trio. Hays said he heard the bit was hilarious. (AP)

- [Kansas City Chiefs] Will Shields will be around Arrowhead Stadium sometime next week to work out. What happens after that is anybody’s guess. Shields reiterated Wednesday that he won’t decide his future until early March, when free-agency begins.
I’m still hanging (out)," Shields said Wednesday night as he attended the KU-Nebraska women’s basketball game in Lawrence. "It’s not going to be some revelation. It’s not going to be that big of a deal."
For more than a year, Shields, an 11-time Pro Bowl guard for the Chiefs, has been pondering retirement. He has battled arthritis in his knee and back. (Kansas City Star)

- [Green Bay Packers] Free-agent RB Ahman Green could end up back with the Packers. Green is making progress in his recovery from a torn thigh muscle, but he won't be 100 percent until after training camp, which hurts his appeal on the open market. His best bet is to sign a one-year deal with the Packers and re-establish himself. Unless the club drafts a back in the first few rounds, Green could at least share the feature back role in 2006. (Sporting News)
- [AFL] Arizona Rattlers' starting receiver/linebacker Wilson Thomas left the game with a dislocated left elbow, and may be out for the season.
- From Sporting News' Dan Pompei on "Why the Pro Bowl is worth watching":
Granted, players don't go all out. I don't like seeing defensive players pull up before a hit, and ball-carriers run out of bounds. But some players still take it pretty seriously. Roy Williams of Dallas looked like he was competing hard to the naked eye. Champ Bailey of the Broncos came to play. Tennessee's Kyle Vanden Bosch couldn't take a play off if he tried.
- [Seattle Seahawks] Stats don't tell the whole story-- The unsung hero of the Seahawks pass-rush was DE Grant Wistrom. Even though he only racked up four sacks from his weakside spot. What went unseen was that his pressure from the backside of the quarterback allowed Fisher and DT Rocky Bernard to cleanup and get sacks as the quarterback did his best to avoid Wistrom’s pressure. Wistrom was also very effective against the run and his non-stop hustle and leadership were infectious. (Seahawks.net)

- [Boston Red Sox] From an Organizational depth chart review from All-Baseball.com--
Adam Stern - Pretty much guaranteed to begin the year as Boston’s backup outfielder (for 18 days) Stern also had his first taste of Triple-A, and enjoyed it, hitting .321/.385/.494. Stern seems to be locking up a future as a backup outfielder, but his time may not come until 2007. If Stern hits these levels again in 2006 in Triple-A, we may have to start looking at him as a potential regular. This year will be quite important for Stern.

In the 2nd, Seattle's only scoring threat ended with Brown missing a 54-yard field goal try wide right with 2 seconds left in the half. Later, in the 3rd quarter, Brown missed from 50-yards out. "Oh man, the shredded wheat side of me hates the Super Bowl. The frosted side is hoping Josh Brown, a kid who juked me out of my shoes on a kick return during a high school all-star game, will kick a game-winner for Seattle. True story. It would be a little less embarrassing if he wasn't a place kicker, but at least he's an NFL place kicker. Back then, he was just a heck of an athlete."

- From the Greeley (CO) Tribune: The most intriguing unrestricted free agent defensive end is Tennessee's Kyle Vanden Bosch, a fifth-year pro. He had 12.5 sacks this season. He's young at 27. He's big (6-4, 278 pounds) and athletic. He has a huge upside, which means the Titans would likely re-sign him, but if the Broncos have a shot at him, they should pursue him.
